Following recent inspections on the condition of the viaduct structure a report has been produced in which the bridge bearings have been identified as being at the end of their working life, and hence require replacing on the abutments and piers.

A competitive tender has been undertaken to procure the works and Dawnus Ltd are undertaking the construction of the scheme. The works commenced in February 2007 and will be completed by December 2007.

The aim of the project is to replace the existing expiring bridge bearings to extend the life of the structure.
