7th April 2008
RHOSMAEN STREET, LLANDEILO
PLANNED STREETWORKS
BUT BUSINESS AS USUAL
Substantial street works are programmed for Llandeilo town centre, which will involve a road closure and temporary diversions for traffic.
Western Power Distribution (WPD) will carry out essential works to their electricity infrastructure, laying and connecting new electricity mains and service connections to enable continuity of service to their customers.
The South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA) as Agents for the Welsh Government, representing the Highway Authority, have been liaising with all interested parties to provide a co-ordinated approach to this project so that any other scheduled works can be brought forward and carried out during the same closure.
During this four week project Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water will undertake water main refurbishment, working within WPD’s traffic management, and there will also be individual building refurbishment requiring the use of scaffolding that will be accommodated within the closure.
At the same time a section of carriageway reconstruction will be carried out and the whole section will be resurfaced to restore the integrity of the road surface.
The road closure is programmed to begin on Monday 7th April 2008 and will last until Sunday 4th May 2008 subject to weather conditions. Diversionary signs will be erected in appropriate locations to aid the travelling public and information signs will be strategically placed to inform HGV drivers that the A483 is closed in Llandeilo.
It is acknowledged that the works will cause some disruption to the town but on a positive note Rhosmaen Street will become a semi-pedestrianised area with all businesses open as usual.
