Mott MacDonald is an employee-owned management, engineering and development consultancy serving the public and private sector around the world. In South Wales we have a strong and committed local presence with over 100 technical staff working out of our offices in Cardiff and Carmarthen.
Mott MacDonald is design consultant for two locally based contractors who have been awarded a Framework Agreement to undertake highway related civil engineering and surfacing works for local authorities in South East Wales. We also provide electrical and communications design support to one of these local contractors on a Framework Agreement awarded by the Welsh Assembly Government.
As Framework Consultant for SWTRA, Mott MacDonald is currently providing engineering services for the delivery of a programme of maintenance and improvement schemes on the trunk road and motorway network in South Wales. The schemes vary in size and cover a number of aspects including:
- Highway improvement schemes (carriageway resurfacing and junction improvement measures)
- Structural asset inspections (bridges, culverts, retaining walls and gantries)
- Bridge repairs/refurbishment (parapets, waterproofing and expansion joints)
- Environmental and soft estate management
- Maintenance depot works
- Traffic modelling works to help alleviate traffic congestion at known trouble spots
- Review of accident cluster data
- Preparation of contract documents
- Contract site supervision and management
- Tunnel evacuation/safety improvements
- Transfer of drainage data into a digital database for the Welsh Assembly Government
